The 2012 Catera is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sedan, available in one trim only, the Sedan. The base suspension compares favorably with the standard arrangement on most European rivals. There is some body lean in tight turns, however, and occasionally a need to correct the steering in straight-line cruising. The Luxury Sport package has a firmer suspension which offers sharper response, better grip, and less list in quick direction changes. The braking performance receives a split vote - some drives thought it to be top-notch, others felt too much brake pedal travel. The 2012 Cadillac Catera has an overall strong ride because of the connection between the unibody design and the nice suspension, combined with, 17-inch wheels with the Sports Package. The V6 snarls under full throttle, but engine is otherwise passive, and like exhaust tone, is not rich-sounding overall. There is some highway wind noise and the 17-inch tires that some with the 2012 Cadillac Catera Sports Package do rumble some on coarse pavement.
