The 2012 Discovery is a 4-door, up to 7-passenger luxury
sport-utility, available in 3 trims, ranging from the S to the HSE. The
2012 Discovery's closest competitors include the Acura MDX, the Lexus
LX 470, and the Volvo XC90. Both trims are equipped with a standard
4.6-liter, V8, 217-horsepower engine that achieves 12-mpg in the city
and 16-mpg on the highway. A 4-speed automatic transmission with
overdrive is standard. The 2012 Discovery's advanced suspension feature,
it's Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) technology, helps to quell some
of the body roll but there still is some choppiness on bumpy roads. The
cargo capacity is high, however, Land Rover should have supplied a
left-swing door for the "driving on the right side" zones, instead, the
door swings to the left blocking curbside loading in countrys where
folks drive on the right side of the road. Bit of an oversight here...
